Temporary Aquaculture Specialist
The University of ConnecticutÕs Avery Point Campus in Groton, CT is soliciting applications for a part-time temporary position in Marine Aquaculture Outreach for the Connecticut Sea Grant College Program beginning May 1, 2008 extending through January 31, 2009. This is a fifteen hours per week position spread over a minimum of three days per week.
Duties may include but are not limited to: Maintain the functions of the aquaculture extension
office under the direction of the extension educator for aquaculture; provide organizational support for
ongoing outreach programs in marine aquaculture; respond to stakeholder requests for program services
and advice, information, and educational materials; researching and provide information; maintain and
update the Online Resource Guide for Aquaculture web site; participate in
relevant committee meetings as well as in professional associations and trade
shows; compile data and prepare reports for the office and Sea Grant Program;
prepare, review and data entry information
for historical shellfisheries databases; draft brief articles for newsletters,
and complete any other special projects or work assignments.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited undergraduate institution and one year experience or equivalent training and experience in aquaculture outreach, research and/or education. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel software programs. Working knowledge of Macromedia Dreamweaver software is desirable, but not mandatory.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits are not included.
